Show Grid (MFA '16 Thesis Exhibition) at the Rhode Island Convention Center (1 Sabin St, Providence, RI 02903, USA).
Show Grid activates multiple perspectives, revealing areas of overlap, alignment, distinction, and variance among a cohort of graphic designers.
The work collected documents and trajectories of conceptual research and formal experimentation. From common points of departure we chart diverse and at times intersecting fields of inquiry. The work converges around a common questioning of technology, interface, language, identity, place, and contemporary graphic design as we model practices that will persist even when our coordinates shift.
When we "show grid" in our documents, we reveal the underlying structure, methods and idiosyncrasies of our work. In this exhibition, we use the grid to make connections between our practices.
